Muse ??

Categories: Prostate Cancer Stage

Question:

It contains Alprostadil (Prostaglandin E1) as the active ingredient, same as Caverject and Edex.  Rather than being injected into the erectile tissues with a hypodermic as they are, it is a pellet that is inserted into the urethra, and the dilating drug is absorbed through the urethral tissue. There seems to be a wide difference of opinion on its efficacy.  Some say wonderful, some say too much pain and burning, others say totally ineffective compared to other methods.

"MUSE (alprostadil) is a pre-filled, single-use, plastic applicator containing micro-pellet of the drug alprostadil. The medication acts locally to increase blood flow and rapidly produces an erection." Administration: "While sitting or standing, whichever is more comfortable for you, take several seconds to gently and slowly stretch the penis upward to its full length, with gentle compression from top to bottomof the glans. This straightens and opens the urethra. Slowly insert the MUSE stem into the urethra up to the collar." MUSE. You’ll see what it is, how it’s administered, and lots of comments on its effectiveness.  It’s quite expensive, and for me and many others it causes significant pain and no erection at all. BTW, you can see the manufacturer’s home page at http://www.vivus.com. Good luck. — Dave You claim your troubles are many: What you say, I suppose, may be true. But the difference, you see, is … mine happen to me, while yours merely happen to you.

What is MUSE ??? My father recently used muse after having been given the script from his

urologist.  He was 71 years old with a history of cardiac problems. After using muse successfully he got out of bed to head for his bathroom and dropped dead from a massive coronary. I need to find more information on this drug to determine if the urologist was neglegent in prescribing muse to a man of my fathers age and condition. Any advice would be welcome.

Response:

Your father did not die of sex or the side effects of Muse.  He died because immortality is not an option at this stage of human evolution. From the exertion standpoint, the danger potential of changing a light bulb, bending over to tie shoelaces, eating a meal or changing a flat tire was equal to that of sex. From the pharmaceutical standpoint, the amount of prostaglandin E1 (the active ingredient of Muse) actually circulating through the vascular system is miniscule after using Muse. PGE1 is injected into newborn babies with heart defects in massively greater quantities than a man should receive from Muse.  It’s purpose is to preserve the pulmonary function and allow the newborn to strengthen for heart surgery.  PGE1 is a broad muscle relaxant and vasodilator that relieves the strain on the heart and allows greater oxygenation by the lungs.  It does not nave the potential for cardiac hazard, quite the opposite. Ric, Survivor of two heart attacks and prostate cancer.  Muse doesn’t work for me, I use PGE1 injected directly
