Question:

prostate specific antigen. It’s supposed to be a good screening test for   prostate cancer. So far my psa numbers are real good. Mike – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – What is a PSA test?  Thanks.

Response:

If men are concerned about low ejaculate I have three recommendations that I make on my fourm, "Keeping It Up!," on www.measurection.com: 1.  Eat a well balanced diet with plenty of fluids.  Those 8 glasses of water a day can make an immense difference in your health. 2.  Take a zinc supplement.  I recommend GNC’s men’s zinc supplement which also contains copper and other trace minerals.  Do not take it with a multi-vitimin or calcium rich food as calcium leaches out the zinc.  (Some guys claim zinc rich foods work as well, but how many oysters can you eat?) 3.  Before sex take a SMALL quantity of prescription Yohimbine.  As little as 1/4 or 1/2 of a 5.4 mg tablet.  (I do not know if the OTC yohimbe might work as well.) I used to have low ejaculate; now my wife complains I am "messy." B-E-A-R

Smoked oysters. I understand they contain plenty of carcinogen?

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – The adage that oysters put lead in your pencil is true! Of all the foods, oysters contain highest concentration of zinc than any other food. Fresh oysters might not be safe…but Alec Gyrnspan just to post here that, eating couple of cans of smoked oysters a week was just as effective. OR eon

I’ve never smoked and drink only occasionally and then only a moderate amount. My waist went from 32 to 36 as a result of low T and is now back to a 32. I was only 43 when this started and I’m only 49 now so I don’t know how much aging has to do with it. I’m not disputing what you’ve said. A person would do well to stop smoking, stop or cut back on drinking and lose weight. Just what ever caused my problem, it wasn’t smoking, drinking or overweight. Mike I tried DHEA back when it first came out and maybe my T was so low nothing would have helped but I couldn’t tell it did a thing. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – The commonest causes of ED are aging, smoking and drinking. Also men with a waist size greater than 40" have a 50% increase in ED. The cause—estrogen excess which is stored in fatty tissue. Smoking decreases the blood supply to the penis, that is not a good idea for impotence is the inevitable result. Also alcohol decreases dihydrotestosterone which drives the sexual urge. Good luck, stop smoking, start exercising and DHEA sometimes helps at 50mg a day. DRK

Dale, Good advice! I’ve been having regular PSA since I began TRT Feb ‘99…after that PSA began going up.  A major jump from 4.6 7.9  7-00 12-00 respectively, after I doubled T gel from 5 gm 10 gm dy.  Had TRUS prostate biopsy Feb 28th ‘01..no adenocarcinoma…but two of 12 cores showed high grade prostatic intraepithelial neoclassia (PIN). PSA on Mar 11, 02 was 13.4….Had TRUS again on May 22nd ‘02 no adenocarcinoma.   I post this so that if you do have an elevated PSA it’s not necessarily indicative of cancer. Just my experiences… OR eon

I haven’t noticed this in my case but everyone is different. I realize we don’t live forever and can’t expect to stay 20 forever but… I strongly object to doctors and authors who tell us that we are just getting older and should accept it. The main reason why these changes occur in ‘older’ men is that their T level drops. No doctor would ever tell a patient not to worry about their dangerously elevated blood pressure and to just accept a heart attack as normal aging. They’d prescribe drugs, diet and exercise and monitor it closely. I see no reason why low T levels shouldn’t also be treated. Your smoking may not be the main cause of your problems but it isn’t helping. I’d stongly suggest you work on quitting. As for depression, most antidepressants have serious sexual side effect. Your ‘depression’ may be the result of low T rather than actual depression. Getting it into the high end of the normal range may fix your depression and your sexual problems. You might try taking 100mg per day of zinc, plus an herb called pygeum to see if that helps. increase the quantity.

Stop Smoking!  Your arteries are being constricted, and there is no way in hell you can get a proper erection with your arteries not functioning properly.  If you stop smoking, you’ll notice a significant difference in a short time. Now, reach for another cancer stick, and post again that you’re having erectile troubles, just like the rest of us fools in this newsgroup. Don’t listen to anyone, just write about your troubles, like we all do. Will

Response:

I noticed this before I knew my testosterone was low. When I got that corrected things came back to normal. But, as someone else told you, stop smoking. If you won’t do it because you know it will destroy your sex life, then do it because you know it will destroy your heart and lungs. I won’t quote sources here, you have heard them and if you aren’t convinced noone can do that. Good luck, you’ll need it.

A decrease in ejaculate is normal with aging and will be different for all men.  If you have had a recent (over the last year), very noticeable decline in the ejaculate, then go to the doctor.  I do not know your age, but if you are over 40 and the ejaculate has declined, then INSIST on a PSA test.  I had a major decline in ejaculate over a period of one year (down to a few drops), and my doctor just told me I was getting older and "to learn to live with it". Gee, I was 48 at the time.  Well he was wrong.  If you are just seeing a moderate decline in cum, then it may very well be natural aging process.  ALL MEN READING HERE, if you are over 50 (I really think over 45), then start getting regular PSA testing. Best of Luck, Dale P

I have read that there is an ejaculatory duct between your balls and your butt….has anyone heard of this ? If so, could pressure on it cause an inability to cum while lying on back?

Renegade; The main organ located between your balls and your butt is your prostate gland, which has a lot to do with the process of ejaculation. But I doubt that that kind of pressure on a healthy prostate (just lying on your back)would interfere. There’ve been a number of posts in the past here, though, from guys who lose erections a lot more easily if they’re on their backs. I find that if I’m in that position with my partner above, it takes me a lot longer to get to orgasm just because I don’t have the control and freedom of movement that I do in other postions. That’s precisely *why* I like that position so much. :) C/

My question is: Where can I abtain imformation on ejaculation and what causes poor muscle contractions? As soon as I talk to doctors, they basically shrug their shoulders and do not know. (Anonymous) -Fred- Visit the Alt.Support.Impotence website at http://www.alt-support-impotence.org/ Answers to Frequently Asked Questions and links to impotence information on the web

Response:

Check out a website called www.multiples.com. The guy has a complete forum on how to improve orgasm quality and also information about how to breathe, etc, etc and about kegel exercises, everything you could want. They even have boards to post on. I haven’t visited there in awhile. Hope it still exists and is still the same. The guy who maintains the site is sincere and dedicated to what he’s teaching.         Btw, just out of curiosity, how do you know you have "poor muscle contractions?" Also, I don’t think anyone here in this newsgroup would just shrug you off if you came forward some more and discussed your stuff with us. ;-)

Poor muscle contraction can be caused by low levels of T within the muscles or poor androgen sensitivity within those muscles. Check out Shippen’s book – pages 67-68. — *** http://medstuff.ftn.org – for the sake of your health *** *** http://www.ftn.org  Fight the creatures of The Night ****

Sure looks like a commercial site to me.  No information is shared for free. That information is available on the web on free sites.  I don’t have the links, but I am sure others here do.
